Reading

This word matters to me because while growing I had a hard time learning to how to read. I recall being in fourth grade and not knowing how to read. I use to dislike it because I never knew how. But with the help of a hanai grandma teaching me and being hard on me and through practice and practice I’ve learned how to read. I now find myself enjoying it so much. Reading to me is a way to learn new things. For example if you want to take a trip to Vietnam but you don’t know anything about Vietnam nor the language, through knowing how to read one can learn about their culture, history and languague through borrowing or buying books on that subject. Reading is also a great way to get more aid on a subject studying at school. For example me I don’t always understand my collge algrbra homework but because we have a website online I can look up exaamples on a certain problem and read about it so to understand what the steps are to sloving a certain problem. Reading in addition is way to feed ones self because there is directions on how to make any dish and to know what to order on a menu. For example while working at Jimmy John’s I’ve noticed that if anyone doesn’t know what to order they can read off our menu and see for themselves what they would like to eat. Or for those that aren’t sure if oinons are included in our pepe they can read it off the menu and know to tell the register to include onions. Reading helps you communicate through writing or sending e-mails to friends and family. Through reading there is no stress because if you know how to read you can read any introductions on anything instead of having to memorize something.
The difinition of reading is to be able to take sounds and put them together to make words. With those words you put into sentences. From sentences you put thme into meaning. Which relates reading to writing and as well as speaking. For example the words The,Cat, is inside, have different sounds and with those sounds words are make and if you put into a sentence it reads The cat is inside and so the meaning is that the cat which is an animal is inside, indicating the opposite of outside. This definition could be controversial because many would agree to my difinition but then not just any sound can be put into a word and then into a sentence to create meaning. For example teee is letters put together and they create sounds but because the way they are spelled there isn’t a way to put it into a sentence to create meaning. Another example would be BZZZZZZ, it has letters to make a sound but it can’t be a word. However it can be be put into a sentence to create meaning that that’s the sound flies make. Many could object and say that reading is a way of memorizing words to make meaning and it can but that’s not memorizing that’s just recognizing words that we’ve seen in other literatute. However when we don’t know a word it doesn’t mean we don’t know how to read its just that there’s so many words in one language that we just don’t know all of them. It also means we are not familiar with the word but we can learn that word by following the rules of reading first, sound it out and then just to use cross out ilimination to guess what the word means and then if that doesn’t work you look it up in the dictonary to get an understanding and then you can look in a thesauresos to know what synemons are there you might already know. Even through knowing how to read, read requires more reading so to understand what a new word might mean.
