Comparing Patriotism Definitions

Obama's defintion of  Patriotism can be multiple defintions wrapped into one.  He describes that being patriotic is not only an action but it is a set of American ideals. He defines that patriotism is "supporting your country all the time, and when your government deserves it." Obama also goes on to say that being patriotic is celebrating the greatness of the America. We should have pride in things such as victories in war, its enormous wealth and scientific and cultural achievements. I can agree with Obama on some of these defintions of partiotism but it seems to me that he was being a little bias towards the patriotic view of the government.
Not everyone is going to agree with what the government is trying to do so in some cases being patriotic can be different to certain people. Being patriotic to me is loving the land you live in. Understanding what it means to live here. I think to be patriotic you need to be thankful for where we are today and who has helped us achieve that. I don't necessarily think that the most partriotic thing to do is join the army just because a poster tells you to. We need to support our country and help it move forward and become greater then it already is.
Comparing the two pictures I would say that the woman for me is more patriotic. She is happy to be where she is and she shows how much she loves it with red, white and blue. On the other hand the poster of Uncle Sam is not very encouraging to be partiotic but more of an advertisment to get you to join the army.
