Patriotism

In Obama's definition of patriotism, he talks of loyalty, of knowledge, and of the great pride that Americans have for our country. In each of the example pictures on pages 254-5, they also share Obama's meaning of loyalty to the country and also to the rest of the individuals that can equally feel united within the certain groups shown. This definition of patriotism also ties into my own because I do believe that we all have that "gut instinct" from when we were born to have the loyalty to our country (dressing in red, white, and blue for the fourth of July). I also think that patriotism means that we need to all stand up united for what we believe in, like dressing/showing support for that candidate that we choose to vote for or participating in rallies/protests for issues that offend us, and take pride in actually connecting with others around the country.
