President Obama defines patriotism the way it should. He reveals that it is more than just celebrating 4th of July, Thanksgiving or just doing the Pledge of Allegiance. Although these are some forms of patriotism, it is more about believing and loving the ideals which has brought this country together as one people. In order to be patriotic, one must not only love America as a country but also America as a people. The image of Uncle Sam is contrary to Obama's definition of patriotism. It says, "PATRIOTISM MEANS SILENCE." This phrase is something that collides with American values because we are a society that upholds the right to free speech. The image on the right supports Obama's claims because it advocates for gay Conservative Americans. This group of people pay an equal part in this country and deserve the same respect as anyone else.
